First off, I wanted to let you all know that the first part of my interview for YNot.com is now online. There is a second part to the interview, but I’m not sure when it will be published. I am actually very happy with the first part of the interview though, since I had the opportunity to talk a bit more about burlesque, which is one of my favourite topics. I’ll be sure to let all of you know when the second part of the interview is published.

I talked to Dick Shagswell of Misty’s XXX Girls (not safe for work) on the phone today. I was showing him a website called 2257Safe.com that I really like. The website name refers to 18 U.S.C. 2257 which requires anyone who runs a website with visual content that could be deemed as being of an “adult nature” to list where the records are kept for the models to assure they are all over 18 years old. It’s a really involved process because it has to be an address that a government official can show up at without notice and the record keeping involves a database that can cross reference in multiple ways. Just recently though the law has changed so a third party can keep the records, so for example a lawyer or webmaster. What Dick was telling me though is that the records still are supposed to be kept in the same state where the business is being run. This means the 2257Safe.com website, although awesome, isn’t a viable option for many. The only other downfall is the cost, at $29.99 per month, which is fine for a larger website but for single performer sites or small business it isn’t so great. I’d love to see another website like this on a smaller scale.

For those of you who don’t know me well, I have two cats, and a huge cat pen attached to the house so the cats can come and go as they please. I’m not sure how, but a bird got into the pen and flew into the house! Needless to say he was stuck in a single room once inside and flying back and forth with my kitties chasing him. The bird is out of the house now, but the cats keep looking up around the ceiling and crying… trying desperately to find the bird.

I made enchiladas from scratch tonight. I totally adore enchiladas! I grew up on a lot of Mexican food so some of my favourite foods are enchiladas, fideo (not the soup but the spaghetti), and guacamole. I’m insanely picky though since what I was brought up on was authentic Mexican food. I’ve pretty much given up on the idea of finding really great enchiladas in Colorado Springs, so I’ve started making them once a month from scratch.

Other than that things are going well and I’m lining up photoshoots for the spring. I’m planning to submit to a number of publications. One thing I’m working to line up is a latex photoshoot. I’ve never shot in latex before and there’s a designer in Colorado so I’m talking to him now. We’ll see how this goes.

Wow, what a day I had!

More Fun In Vegas

January 26th, 2010

I’ve been busy ever since I arrived in Las Vegas. I’ve invested in costumes, seen classic sites, and probably one of the best shows in Las Vegas. Now I’m ready to just relax, but first let me tell you all about it.

Of the things in Vegas that I have never done and wanted to Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce is one of the things I have wanted to experience the most. I called, but the phone was disconnected. I really thought it was some sort of fluke. So I went in search of the famed Forty Deuce at the shopping center between the Mandalay Bay and Luxor, but to my disappointment it was nowhere to be found. The Forty Deuce of Las Vegas is out of business! Lucky for us lovers of burlesque though it is being replaced by a new cabaret called “The Rose” that is supposed to open during the spring of 2010.

After the disappointing search I headed with my friends to the Peppermill restaurant, which I had never been to before. It’s so neat though! It sort of reminds me of a strip club meets 50’s diner with a bit of the woods from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. The overall colors are purples and blues with a bit of pink for details. Now when I say that it reminded me of a strip club I’m not joking, and less than five minutes after sitting down the group next to us said the same thing! Honestly, the place is just really cool and had really good diner food. I can see why it’s so popular. Check out this video of it on Youtube from KnowItUp.com, and then another video on Youtube. I had a tomato, basil and mozzarella caprese sandwich and was very happy with it, so this place gets high ratings from me!

Monday morning I made a stop at one of my favorite costume/prop stores in Vegas. I’m not about to drop all the details… but apparently Kalani Kokonuts is also a customer of theirs. I love the store! It’s so fun to look around at all the items they sell… its so inspiring. I know I’m being vague. I placed an order though, but they have so many other orders right now that mine won’t be ready until mid to late march.

After the costume store we went to the Golden Nugget. I stayed there many years ago when I was working for a company that hosted a training convention there. The hotel had just been updated and was okay. It’s been updated again though and now it is fabulous!

I also ventured down to Glitter Gulch for the first time. For those of you who are not familiar with the venue it is a very classic Las Vegas gentlemen’s club located on Fremont Street. To say the least the club was not anything like what I expected. From the stories and old reviews I’ve read I really expected the club to be old with a few stages and simply run down. Upon entering the building though I was shown just how wrong I was! I had sent a text message to my good friend Brad Fitzgerald about Glitter Gulch the day before and he said it was a fun place. My friends and I went Monday during the day and there was no cover charge, but a two drink minimum per person. When I walked in though it looked totally new! I only saw one long stage which had three poles. The venue itself seemed pretty small, but has been totally renovated and looked nice! It  was done in a deep red and black theme. The seating areas were all high back black leather sofas, and the room was lit in red lights. We sat down and ordered drinks. The total for two sodas and two bottled waters came to $33… plus tip! The “VIP” dances (Which translates to lapdances) were $35 each.

Cristal approached our table and seemed to be a good conversationalist so my friend went back with her for a dance. When he returned he seemed rather pleased and mentioned that if we weren’t in a rush to meet up with a few other members of our group he would have enjoyed a few more dances with her. We talked about their dance and what made it stand out from others he has had. Before leaving the table Cristal had tauted that she gave superbly clean dances… but for as much as my friend enjoyed his dances that isn’t what he reported back. Cristal apparently is impeccably good with “placement” and made sure her nipple ended up in my friend’s mouth multiple times. See, this is exactly the reason why some states like Alabama & Texas have laws that require pasties or latex to be worn over the nipples… because its not always the customers trying things – sometimes it’s the dancers! The concern here is that a woman can pass diseases through her milk ducts and the club doesn’t want to be held responsible. The other thing she did that he thought was arousing was to do a body slide, and then “nibble” on his inner leg. He asked me if I ever did that, and I promptly responded “No!”. He asked why and I said that other than not being the sort of thing I would do for various reasons, I would think Cristal would have been concerned about leaving a lipstick stain. Right after I said that he looked down at his paints… and sure enough there was the red imprinted evidence of where she had been. He looked at me smuggly… and replied “Guess you called that one”. Yes, yes I did.

After the little “extras escapade” we were off to Binions to try the deep fried twinkies and fried oreos. I had first heard of them on an episode of No Reservations, hosted by celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain. I really love Bourdain’s show… its one of the few that I will actually watch on television when I can find the time. Those oreos and twinkies though were the pits! I literally threw them away… and I almost never do that with food. I mean I love chocolate, but oreos aren’t exactly the cream of the crop, and fried they are even worse. I really don’t care for fried or steamed foods, but I can officially say that I think anyone who fries a beautiful thing like chocolate should be arrested.

Last night was the first time that I’ve ever seen the show Jubilee! at Bally’s, and the show was spectacular! I’ve seen a good number of shows in town, but in terms of just being overall well put together this show is it. The costumes, props, and dancers were better than any of the others that I’ve seen in Las Vegas. I was extremely disappointed in the last two “burlesque” style shows I’ve seen in Vegas, and even though Jubilee! does not market itself as being burlesque, it is by far more traditional burlesque than any of the others. Tomorrow morning I’m going to go see the backstage area and check out the costumes in closer detail. Let’s just say that so far I’m very impressed and this show has renewed my faith in the idea of “Las Vegas Entertainment”.

That’s all for now, I’ll report more later.

Excitement & Disappointment

January 24th, 2010

It’s always best to start with the bad news, right? I was planning on booking my trip to FL today from Expedia. I was supposed to receive a coupon from when I booked through the website for my trip to Wisconsin. Needless to say Expedia failed to disclose full details… which makes me made because I held off booking waiting for that coupon. It was supposed to be for $200… more than enough to cover my flight. Well, I logged onto the website to book my ticket to FL only to discover that now Expedia has restrictions on the $200 coupon. It has to be used on travel for roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations booked through Expedia. I wasn’t planning to stay at a hotel first of all, and second, I also wasn’t planning to book my returning flight until I knew what the money down there would be like. This is an epic fail. I’m officially made at Expedia… but still rather dependent on them because they always show the best prices.

Now for my exciting new. My good friend Chanel Preston just did her first scene for Vivid with Nick Manning! I’m so excited! I think I live somewhat vicariously through she and Nikki. I really doubt I’d ever do porn… I’m far too paranoid after my time as a counselor in San Francisco. I am so excited for Chanel though! Vivid still has to take a look at the video before they decide whether or not she’ll be contracted. I really think she will though. Actually, I think any of the production houses would be luck to contract with her!
